A Native of Chicago Illinois living in Los Angeles, Shaun Landry (Instructor and Artistic Director) is the Founder and CEO of The Ledge Theatre.
She taught at The Pack Theatre Los Angeles as a Core teacher (Level 3), produces and performs with The Seniors Improv Comedy (Improv with Improvisers over 50). She is also half of the ensemble of Landry & Summers with Improviser Hans Summers.
She has been performing since 1975, professionally since 1983 and teaching theatre since 1992.
As a director and producer, she co-founded The San Francisco Improv Festival and has been vocal in the improvisational theatre community producing shows geared towards underrepresented voices including the first African American Improvisational scripted ensemble, Oui Be Negroes, featured in American Theatre.
Shaun has worked for The Second City Chicago Tour Company & Children’s Theater, Geese Theater Company, and African American Shakespeare Company and has been in the improvisational festival circuit teaching and performing at places such as (The shortlist):
Shaun has taught and performed at universities including Stanford, Northwestern, Oberlin College, Hollins, and the University of California Irvine.
Shaun has directed productions for The Young Playwrights' Festival and has worked with youth as part of Childplay's Touring Theatre
Other performing and producing credits includes Essence Improv featuring an all African American Female cast and OUTe (The Other Theatre Ensemble) featuring members of the LGBTQIA+ Community.
Ms. Landry can be read in numerous books on the art of improvisation including “Whose Improv is it Anyway: Beyond the Second City”. She can also be heard talking about Theatre and the art of Improvisation on numerous podcasts nationally.
As a member of the Screen Actors Guild, she can be seen in the movies Read You Like a Book with Danny Glover and Karen Black as Marcia and The Oscar Award winning movie Milk with Sean Penn as Gwenn Craig.
